Con una nueva propuesta en infraestructura y diseño ajustable a las necesidades de los territorios, con materiales no convencionales, ecológicos y reciclables, la Secretaría de Integración Social entregó el segundo Jardín Acunar que atenderá a 67  niños y niñas de San Cristóbal, en una estructura modular adaptada y acorde con los estándares de seguridad y de atención para la primera infancia.

De esta manera, este Jardín Acunar que tendrá por nombre “Gabito”, en homenaje al Nobel de Literatura Gabriel García Márquez, se convierte en el segundo en el Distrito bajo este modelo.  En lo que va corrido de 2014, la Secretaría de Integración Social ha atendido bajo la modalidad de Ámbito Institucional a 63.339 niñas y niños en primera infancia, en 397 unidades operativas. Esto, sumado a las 70.366 niñas y niños atendidos en la modalidad de Ámbito Familiar, para un total de 133.705.

Entre las problemáticas presentadas en este sector, se evidencia la alta presencia de mujeres cabeza de familia, quienes deben laborar en  empleos formales e informales,  viéndose en la necesidad de dejar a los niños y las niñas bajo el cuidado de terceros por largos periodos de tiempo. De igual forma, se presenta en un gran porcentaje,  familias con bajo nivel de estudio y de ingresos.

Al igual que los otros jardines Acunar del Distrito, éste, cuenta con aulas educativas para los niños y niñas; sala amiga de la familia lactante; comedor, depósito didáctico; zona verde – área de recreación; cuarto de basura y lavandería, entre otras. Las áreas cuentan con ventilación natural y extractores, las fachadas con ventanas piso-techo, las cuales brindan mayor iluminación natural y circulación del aire en interiores.

Según la Secretaría de Integración, esta estructura tiene una vida útil de aproximadamente 20 años y por sus materiales, ofrece una alta resistencia a condiciones telúricas y de incendio, lo que las hace bastantes seguras y duraderas. Mientras un jardín convencional tarda en construirse en promedio, más de un año, estas estructuras modulares tan solo se hacen en 60 días.
