La conciencia de lo que hacemos y debemos hacer, es fundamental en la transformación de la realidad.

 
En una ocasión, cuando Fundación y Periódico Sxxi, participaban con un stand en la Feria del Libro, en Corferias, al acercarse uno de nuestros facilitadores a un visitante, para dar a conocer el trabajo que se realiza en favor del medio ambiente, este exclamó: ¡No gracias, no me interesa, ese no es mi tema!

 
Todos los presentes nos miramos desconcertados y nos preguntamos: ¿No es su tema? ¿Este ser humano no respira aire contaminado? ¿A él no le afectan las consecuencias del aumento de radiación debido al cambio climático? ¿No tiene hijos que vivirán a futuro problemas más graves que los que tenemos ahora? ¿La contaminación de las especies acuáticas no afectan su salud?.. ¡Para qué seguir enumerando!
 

Es evidente, la respuesta dada por aquel visitante, es la respuesta de millones de personas que creen que el tema ambiental es responsabilidad de unos pocos; unos tantos, que hacen una labor quijotesca, tratando de salvar el planeta, y todo lo que contiene, de la debacle ambiental, ética y moral que nos agobia.
 

Es tema de todos y todas

 
En tanto a diario vivimos, respiramos, nos alimentamos, generamos desechos, utilizamos energía para satisfacer nuestras necesidades, consumimos el líquido vital que es el agua para tantos menesteres, nos vestimos, usamos tecnología, en tanto somos consumidores-unos más compulsivos que otros-, en tanto nos movilizamos cerca o lejos, cuidamos o no nuestra salud: el ambiente es tema de todos y todas, y sus problemas también. Bien lo dice el científico, ilustrando bellamente, la interconexión que existe en la naturaleza: “La caída del pétalo de una rosa impacta todo el universo”. Ni qué decir de cómo lo estamos afectando con todo lo que hacemos con nuestro maltrecho planeta.

 
Y aunque en ciudades como Bogotá, somos aún privilegiados, porque abrimos la llave y sale agua, no debemos descuidar el tema de ser conscientes de los costos ambientales con los que carga la Tierra, gracias a nuestra acción como especie: inteligente pero devastadora; claro que la estupidez humana, supera su inteligencia. Bogotá con su apretujamiento poblacional, no dará abasto, en poco tiempo, para satisfacer la necesidad de agua de tanta gente.

 
Se calcula que en pocos años, vendrán serios problemas para la ciudad en esta materia, y no sólo en Bogotá, sino en el mundo. Bien lo dice en la película Matrix, Mr. Smith, el “malo de la cinta”: “La especie humana, tiene el mismo comportamiento del virus, todo lo invade. Se ha convertido en una plaga para el planeta”.
 

Conciencia ambiental transgeneracional
 
Lo que hacemos hoy se reflejará mañana, así que desde esa premisa, es urgente actuar, pensando a conciencia ¿Qué vida les espera a nuestros hijos, a nuestros nietos o seres queridos, con un ambiente tan deteriorado? ¿Cuántas enfermedades letales agobiarán a la humanidad en pocos años? ¿Cuántas carencias de todo tipo se padecerán? ¿Cuánta violencia? ¿Cuántas guerras por agua, por comida?…Las películas futuristas muestran un panorama desalentador del caos que será la Tierra, y de la condición violenta de sus pobladores luchando por sobrevivir, y la realidad usualmente supera la ficción. “Cuando nos demos cuenta que la plata no se come” seguramente será tarde, dice la sabiduría ancestral. Entonces ¿Qué hará la gente con el dinero?

 
Así que usted, aquí y ahora, desde su casa, colegio, universidad, oficina, sitio de trabajo, puede hacer mucho por el planeta y por las generaciones venideras: recicle, reutilice, evite ser consumista, prefiera los alimentos naturales, ahorre agua y energía, use más la bicicleta, haga campañas en favor del ambiente, en familia, con amigos, vecinos, en las entidades, para detener esta ola de destrucción del sustento de la vida, que son los ecosistemas de la Tierra. Apoye iniciativas tendientes a proteger y preservar los recursos naturales que nos quedan: como humedales, ecosistemas selváticos, páramos, reservas forestales. Planee campañas de recuperación y limpieza de los cuerpos de agua como el mar, ríos, lagunas, quebradas. No importa que no estén en su territorio, igual, alrededor de estos espacios viven personas que como usted, necesitan de esos recursos, usualmente comunidades vulnerables, olvidadas por las administraciones de turno. Eduque a su familia en el respeto por la naturaleza y su adecuado aprovechamiento.

 
Finalmente
 
Después de estar presente en los Diálogos de Alto Nivel Rio + 20, que tuvieron lugar en Bogotá, y que debieron ser a todo nivel, quedó la sensación de que se avecina a pasos agigantados una tragedia anunciada. Dada esta realidad, conocida por el mundo entero, será que algún día, ojalá a tiempo, ¿Llegamos a entender y reconocer el valor de los recursos que nos sustentan? ¿Algún día los gobiernos comprenderán que no es suficiente que quien contamine pague? pues el daño causado no se recupera con nada. ¿Será posible que algún día niños, niñas y jóvenes levanten sus voces y exigencias ante la injusticia que se está cometiendo contra ellos, al entregarles un planeta en ruinas? ¿Será posible que algún día, quienes contaminan cambien sus prácticas destructivas y dejen su voracidad, en beneficio del bien común, que finalmente es también su propio bien y el de los suyos?

 
Para infortunio de la humanidad, somos una especie terca, que aprende especialmente cuando lo malo anunciado nos ocurre… Ojalá paremos a tiempo este derrotero de muerte, enfermedad y pobre calidad de vida que tenemos y que les espera multiplicada a las generaciones futuras, si las cosas siguen como están. De ahí que, la conciencia que construyamos de aquí en adelante, será vital para transformar esta realidad. Esa conciencia que permitirá que seamos responsables de las consecuencias de nuestros actos, de resarcir el mal provocado y prevenir hechos que lamentar, conectándonos de manera asertiva, racional, respetuosa y amorosa con el planeta, asegurando de manera armoniosa la supervivencia nuestra, de las demás especies, y la permanencia de las bellezas naturales que pueblan la Tierra. Ese es un deber y un reto ¿Quiere usted asumirlo?
